Very fine work! It actually reminds me of the beautiful hand painted environments they had in the classic King's Quest computer games of days gone by including that King Arthur one and that Robin Hood one they did. This image reminds me strongly, in fact, of the marshes from that Robin Hood game, and I like it since it brings back good memories of the hours I spent playing that back in the day. The tower in the distance is very mysterious and interesting. This is a very powerful image, an environment well suited for exploration and adventure of a dark sort. The twisted trees are a nice touch, and I almost feel like one oculd walk down that deep marsh and come to the tower in the distance... it is an image that draws a person in, and I like that about it very much! Thanks for creating something so interesting and cool too.
Thanks so much! I'm flattered by the comparison to the old adventure games. Sadly that genre seems like a lost art, (I guess it's successor would be the hidden object game..) Never got to play king's quest, It seems like a really cool series. I've always loved landscapes that are immersive, intriguing and explorable. Glad to hear I've succeeded in creating one!
King's Quest was aweome! Sadly, the final entry in the series, Mask of Eternity, was a buggy mess even worse than Ultima IX: Ascension was. At least Ascension got fixed through fan patches... Mask of Eternity is still a mess to this day. It just goes to show, there are some occasions, when it is best to leave the classics well enough alone. *Giggle*
